And the hits keep on coming! I really, really need to update my journal more often.
So, to start with, my mother nearly went blind over the summer. First, in June, the 25-year-old Radial Keratotomy scar in her left eye somehow reopened and became infected. Turns out, while eyes heal quickly, they don't heal solidly, like skin and bone does. Freaky, ne? Thankfully, she saw a doctor in time to get antibiotics, and it healed cleanly within a week. Then, in July, she developed an ulcer in her right eye. Thankfully, since she now has an ophthalmologist because of what happened in June, she got a quick appointment with him, and more antibiotics. She had to go back three days in a row so he could check how it was healing. It is suspected that the fiberglass insulation my dad was installing in the garage that weekend is at least partly to blame; my mom is very allergic to fiberglass. Her right eye healed as cleanly as the left, so she can see as well as she did before, though she's a bit paranoid about eye problems now (imagine that).
Also in mid July, we had a family-and-friends outing to Vasquez Rock, which most of you will have seen in any number of movies and TV; most recently, it was Vulcan. It's a large, oddly shaped rock out in the middle of nowhere. We climbed a ways on it, but it was a hundred degree day, and the stone was burning hot to the touch, so we didn't go far. Sadly, I didn't go as far as most of them did, because, as those who know me in real life know, I have a minor balance issue, which makes climbing over uneven stone even riskier than it is for most. I did my best, but in the end, I chickened out when the path got too steep.
I tried to re-enroll in college - there's one just a few miles from where I live - but I tried too late, and there weren't any open classes left by the time I was ready to start signing up. I'll try again for the spring semester.
There have been several fires relatively close to our home; I can't tell you how many times I've seen smoke on the horizon. Hopefully, there will be rain soon, which will help.
The puppies have reached an age where they've started trying to mark territory - mostly in the living room. This is not appreciated by anyone! We're trying to break them of it, but it may take fixing them to do it. (No, they're not fixed yet - we wanted them to get their full size first.)
On a more positive note, I made my very first AMV a few weeks ago! It's a slideshow, and the timing is a bit off in a few places, but overall, I'm pretty proud of it! You can check it out at my YouTube page:
[link] Plleeaaassse, rate and comment! I worked really hard on it! And does anyone know where I can find clips from, say, Avatar TLA, Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, or any other animes for that matter? I have lots of plans, but no good way to make them happen yet.
Other than that, it's been pretty quiet.

Hopefully, my next journal entry will have less going on!

Need a Proofreader?
I'm a semi-professional proofreader (I've been proofreading for give-or-take ten years, I just haven't been paid for it) looking for business:
I find and fix spelling and grammar errors, typos, poor phrasing, and formatting, for $15 an hour. I will also recommend improvements on, and additions to, the content itself if requested.
I have a quick turn around time and am quite friendly to work with.
Please note, I am NOT offering to write terms papers or anything like that for you - I'm not helping you cheat! You send me what you have, and I help fix it up - that's it!
Send the documents in .doc, .pdf, or .odt format. If you are interested, e-mail me at rhiannon@tyra-assoc.com. I prefer to be paid by check or money order for now; eventually I'll probably have a Paypal account.
Oh, and one more thing - if you send me a story that has made-up words in it, let me know about them ahead of time so I don't try and fix them!
