RIP, Akira Toriyama. Dragonball Z was one of the big animes from my youth, along with Sailor Moon and Ranma 1/2. Most of my fanfiction, and certainly some of my best, was DBZ. I made good friends through the fandom; I only met Hollyberry52 because I wrote a DBZ fic for a contest and she liked it so much she did a fanart for it. I never knew the man personally, but his work had a real impact on my life. Thank you for everything, Toriyama-sensei. I was originally going to have this journal be about how I went to FenCon two weeks ago for the first time since I moved away from Texas. It was a fun con, one of the busiest I've been to since COVID hit, and had a great dealer's room. It was nice seeing some of my Texas friends again. And there was some filking, so yay! Okay, wow, I really slipped up the last few months. Things were busy for various reasons, but I should have been more on top of this. Okay, so a quick summary of the interesting points: in November, I went to my first TusCon, a convention in Tuscon. It was a good con, though sadly there was something in the air that hit my allergies something awful and I spent a lot of the weekend fighting sinus headaches. Also, there was no filk track of any kind, which was odd to me. We took Loki with us, in the hopes it would help him get more comfortable with other people, and he was the hit of the con! I think everyone petted him at least once and he was totally chill the entire time. Our Thanksgiving was very nice, as always, though not all of the company we were expecting were able to make it. After Thanksgiving my job got extra busy, which is a big part of why I missed December's journal. I meant to do a journal after TusCon, too, but by the time I got back I'd forgotten about it.

Hello, everyone! As always, I'm happy to be on the way to Halloween; we'll start decorating this week. I've decided not to build our graveyard until it's a little closer to the 31st, as I am sick and tired of having to rebuild it every couple of days because the stupid wind blows the tombstones over (and away - we've lost several tombstones over the years). We're having another party this year, and that will be fun. Come to think of it, I need to figure out a costume. Soooo, another epic fail on getting that first chapter of "Only You" done by the end of September. I am very disappointed in myself; even granting that last month was a little busy for me, I should have gotten more done than I did. First chapters can be tricky for me sometimes, I admit, but considering how long this story has been growing in my brain, it should be going easier than this.
